Levitra is a drug used for treating erectile dysfunction. It is generically known as Vardenafil, and it is alternatively known as Staxyn, which is the orally disintegrating form of Levitra. In the United States, it is co-marketed by Bayer Pharmaceuticals, GlaxoSmithKline, and Schering Plough. The primary concern with Levitra is that it may cause occurences of Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). This disorder is also caused by similar drugs such as Cialis and Viagra.

Levitra side effects include other problems aside of just Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, but NAION is certainly the most serious. Essentially, NAION constitutes blindness caused by damage to the optic nerve because of an insufficient blood supply. Most cases of NAION just cause temporary losses of vision, but it is not unheard of for there to be a total losses of vision either. Generally, the victims lose either the upper or lower half of their visual field.

Unfortunately, there is no effective treatment for reversing Levitra adverse effects. Symptoms generally manifest themselves 36 hours after taking Levitra. Additionally, researchers have found that Levitra can cause hearing loss as well. As a result, in 2007, the FDA added a warning to all PDE5 inhibitors about the potential for sudden hearing loss.

If you or a loved one has suffered from Levitra side effects such as NAION or sudden hearing loss, you might be entitled to compensation. Contact one of our skilled dangerous drug attorneys today to schedule a free and confidential consultation.
