Cyberspace and Computer Law
Cyberspace is vast legal area that has not yet been adequately explored or delineated. As such, there is much ambiguity in the interpretations of many laws and the legality of certain actions is hard to determine. This is especially the case because the Internet spreads over a variety of legal jurisdictions. What is legal in one area is hardly legal in another, yet the ‘same’ Internet exists in both places.
For example, online gambling recently became illegal in the United States, but remains legal in much of the world. Additionally, because the Internet and computers permeate every part of our daily lives, the important legal issues of Cyberlaw often overlap with other legal issues such as intellectual property, defamation, criminal law, business transactions, privacy, and contract law.
